Arriving in Manchester after a looooong day following the Canal tow path from Todmorden. The day before we'd trudged through boggy lands along the Pennine Way. Eventually arriving at Jane, James and his wife to be Anna's home in Todmorden.

Manchester The Rainy City

The walk has been extremely taxing on our feet and at present we are resting at Santi's dads in Manchester. After Keswick Roni and I walked alone for four days. In fact it was a miracle that we eventually met up on the road. Walking alone was a very different experience. The sun shone for the four days, the walk was mainly through the Lake District and other country footpaths. However, there is nothing like the pleasure of walking with a good friend, especially when the weather gets bad and your feet ache from up to and beyond 20 miles in a day. I have wanted to give up the walk on at least three occasions. And at present, now the autumn is upon us and we still have 600 miles left to do, my thoughts waver from, "have we done enough" to "it would be greatly satisfying to finish the Stroll in November". The jury is still out. But I must say that I have enjoyed the walk and my time spent with Ronni and others along the way. So far the Lake District and the West Highland Way, along with our trip to Skye have been the highlights.

Solo Stroller

I have been walking alone for four days, but it is a real joy to have the pleasure of Santi's company again. We are now in Manchester at Santi's Dads house, chillin with our feel up, watchin the rain fall heavily out side. Isn't life great.

Into Glasgow past Loch Lomond

cobbler and loch lomond and waterfall

The approach to the "Cobbler". I loved climbing this mountain (without a full pack).

Can you see how FAR DOWN the bottom is?????

Stupid wrong turn and we ended up walking straight up hill for 40mins with full packs. Just to retrace our steps back down again, and set off from the start for the 2nd time. Seriously I can't believe how hard the climb was with 14kg on ours backs. We were dripping in sweat, and stopping every 5 steps to gasp in any air we could.

The end result - a very sheepish, exhausted smile (JUST for the camera).

Walking West Highland Way

Climbing the Cobbler

HEEEEELP!!!!!!!

I can hardly stand up. The wind was crazy. With all my body mass, yet I still felt as weighty as a feather - wheeew!

Camping on Shetland

Time warp again. Back to the very top of Shetland. Here is our 1st camp site where we began the stroll from.

I just saw my first puffin :)

"Nan" to all. Our beautiful landlord on Shetland. She needs 2 walking sticks but still rides a quad bike. A true hardy country spirit.

Roni wants to fly

I have no words to explain...

My "Secret" discovery

What Is The Secret
This book has really been speaking to me during this walk. It's changed my whole life around. Now I don't just fantasise about my dreams, I believe in their reality. Life in Glasgow has been extremely good to me :)

THE update

Finally I've had some serious net time.

Spending a week in Glasgow - recharging the batteries, motivation, and passion for rain. Which all means I've been able to catchup on posting heaps of photos we've taken over the last month or so.

It's definitely been a desperately needed break. Santi did a wee runner for a few days down to Manchester, but has regrouped and is back. We, somewhat insanely, actually want to once again trudge through the bogs, horizontal rains, whipping winds, and swarming midges, to try and complete this MASSIVE challenge.

We figure we're around half way, walked over 700kms, and hopefully should be finished by early November.

Then we'll finally be able to go searching for summer... Oh how we love the sun.

Another breath-taking spot to stop for lunch
